About Brain Unclenching

While I’ve been writing things for a long time (for instance, more than five years of weekly columns in a church bulletin - that became the project Having Ears), I’m a newbie at full time writing in the hopes of making a living with it. And I remember that old adage: if you want to write, write, a lot, every day, and don’t stop. In other words, practice practice practice and never let writer’s block get in your way.

I’m pretty terrible at being accountable to myself for doing anything daily, so I decided to go public with it.

And to avoid writer’s block, I’ve decided to use a gimmick: daily writing prompt. Specifically, to get started, I’ve decided to use this book:

400 Creative Writing Prompts Workbook Story Prompts for Journaling, Blogging, and Overcoming Writer’s Block Compiled by Debra Chapoton All rights reserved Copyright © 2020 by Debra Chapoton

Here’s a link to it.

So my goal is to publish one of these little exercises a day (trying for every day but considering myself successful if I get 5-6 days a week - self-compassion and mercy, right?!).
